Socs and Vol Awards  

On 22 April, Bangor University students gathered to celebrate the annual Society and Volunteering Awards, recognising the achievements of student societies, volunteers, and community projects across the university. Organised by Undeb Bangor (the Students’ Union) and hosted by Hasib - VP for Societies and Volunteering, the awards reflected Bangor’s strong student community by highlighting the dedication and impact of students involved in extracurricular activities, fundraising, leadership, and volunteering within the local community.

Group Awards: 

Event of the Year – Herpetological – Venom Day 
Welsh Culture – Bangor Marrow 
Best New Volunteering Project – Habitat Conservation Project 
Volunteering Project of the Year – Hot Meals Project 
Society of the Year – LGBTQ+ Society 
Fundraising Award – Societies – Herpetological Society

Best Newcomer to Societies – Freya Blackstock (Law) 
Best Newcomer to Volunteering – Elizabeth Barnes (RSPB Flight Club & Habitat Conservation Project) 
Volunteer of the Year – Alex Stace (Bangor Marrow) 
Society Member of the Year – Amelia Harvey (Herpetological) 
Community Spirit Award – Megan Judge (Habitat Conservation Project) 
VP Award for Societies – Aimee Sorce (Yarn & Yarn) 
VP Award for Volunteering – Lily Shaw (Hot Meals Project) 

 

Athletic Union Awards  

The Athletic Union Awards took place on 29 April at Bangor University. Organised by Undeb Bangor, the event welcomed around 200 student athletes to celebrate their achievements and successes throughout the academic year. Hosted by the current Vice President for Sport, Neve, the evening was filled with energy, pride, and recognition for the dedication shown by Bangor’s sports teams and individual athletes. The awards celebrated outstanding performances, teamwork, leadership, and commitment across the university’s sporting community.
