We’ve built on the success of last year’s Cost of Living Campaign to deliver the following for students:

  • £2 meals for students and staff continues at Teras and Bar Uno outlets
  • Students can visit our Cost-of-Living Room (located at the Students’ Union) at any time to donate, borrow or grab a variety of items for free to support their day to day living and academic studies:
  • Students can access fancy dress costumes for free to wear on nights out and during socials. This assists lower-income students to feel confident and comfortable to go on themed nights out with student groups without feeling excluded. Costume items can be borrowed from the Student’s Union and returned once used. This also reduces the number of items students are buying for one-time use and then disposing of.
  • A collection of interview clothing including formal suits, shirts and dresses, is also available to borrow from the student’s union. This helps students who may not have the money to buy these items themselves look appropriately smart for job interviews, increasing their chances of finding employment during and after university.
  • Free stationery and toiletries for students in need
  • Cost of Living Events which include a free reusable period product giveaway and clothes swap. Not only that, but our student volunteers deliver a Repair Café, encouraging students and members of our local community to bring in items for fixing and volunteer as fixers!
  • We also have our Cost-of-Living Network, designed to help people find a community of other students in a similar situation to them. Find out more about this network here.
