Hai Yen Nguyen

Manifesto: I am Hai Yen Nguyen, preferred name is Yen. I am excited to stand as your next Vice President of Education. My intention is to ensure every student, both home and international, having the best possible academic experience at Bangor. 

My Vision: Excellence, Support, and Employability 

1. Enhancing Study Environments and Academic Quality 

By keep working with the faculties, and receiving feedback, I aim to remain the consistent and high-quality across all courses. Enabling the improvement in study space, no need to worry about lacking library access, silent study zones, and collaborative areas. Besides, as an international student, I wish to have more support for international students, with the aim of no one feels confused or excluded from academic integration programs. 

Moreover, I would like to make sure the continuous support from peer guide and faculty. Taking serious concern on students’ feedback towards course structure, teaching methods, and resources. Then trying our best to improve and develop. 

2. Career-Ready Education: Skill Development for Every Student 

Following the Career Series of the University, I wish to expand more, tailored for each major to boost the employability. With the effort of collaborating with related industries, I would be able to bring the real-world learning experiences, guest lectures, and more internship opportunities. From the expanding in academic workshops, the students may excel in coursework. Besides, I aim to have the “Bangor Skills Passport”, as the digital badges for completing industry-relevant workshops, adding to their CVs to prove their ability. And be able to boost their job prospects. 

3. A Fairer and More Inclusive Education Experience 

I also look for the ability to have “Culture Exchange Academic Days” every other month. When students can gather together bonding, sharing knowledge, and building global networks. Furthermore, I wish to promote broadly about the open-access resources and second-hand book exchanges that Bangor University has currently.
