Manifesto: Dear Bangor Students, A month ago, I sat in a crowded lecture hall, struggling to keep up with a complex subject because the teaching style didn't match the class's needs. Some students needed additional resources, some needed clearer explanations, and some, like international students, needed better support to adjust to the academic system. But no one was advocating for us. At that moment, I realized that education isn’t just about lectures and exams. It’s about fairness, accessibility, and support. It’s about having policies that reflect our realities, funding that ensures no student is left behind, and a system that listens when we speak. That’s why I’m standing to be your Vice President for Education at Bangor University.
My Promise to You
1. Fixing Gaps in Education Policy- Your Voice, Your Learning, Your Success. Imagine sitting in an exam and realizing that what you studied doesn’t match what’s being tested.
2. Fighting for Better Funding- No Student Should Struggle Alone. I’ve met brilliant students who had to skip meals, delay assignments, or take extra jobs just to afford their education. Some even had to drop out because of financial strain. This is unacceptable.
3. Strengthening Education Quality- Better Teaching, Better Learning. I once attended a lecture where the professor read slides word-for-word, with zero engagement. Education should inspire, not bore. I will: Push for improved teaching methods that cater to different learning styles.
4. Creating a Supportive and Inclusive Learning Environment Not all students have the same struggles. International students, students with disabilities, and those juggling work and studies often feel overlooked.
5. Representing Bangor Students on a Bigger Stage National and global education policies impact us more than we realize. Decisions made outside Bangor shape our student experience.
Why I’m the Right Person for This Role?
I’ve walked different academic paths, from biomedical science to finance, public health, and now AI & data science. I’ve worked in research, finance, and student mentorship. I’ve seen the gaps in education and understand the changes that need to be made. But most importantly, I care.
