Regional Ambassador

Details Hide[-]

4 key actions per year, self-led with the support of our volunteer coordinator, and delivered in a team with other volunteers in your region.
Here are some example ideas to start you off!
 - Set up a stall at a local community event, such as Pride, a community fair, a library, a cafe.
- Give a talk at a workplace, school, or university.
- Collaborate with a community group to share our resources, e.g. a Pride craft night.
- Run a story-collecting drive: engage an LGBT+ group (e.g. an inclusive sports team, or a queer creative network) to share their experiences for the benefit of LGBT+ young people.

This is the role for you if...

  • You have personal experience of being LGBT+ in the UK.

  • You're a self-starter who takes the initiative, sees possibilities, and makes an impact.

  • You're organised and can see a project through, from the ideas stage to delivery and
reflection. Most projects are organised across a remote, online team, so you understand
the importance of regularly updating team-mates and cracking on with a to-do list.

  • You're a great communicator - confident talking to new people and in crowds.

  • You're reliable, friendly, honest, and trustworthy.

  • You have good knowledge of your local LGBT+ community, and have some ideas about
how you could share It Gets Better UK resources locally.

Where and when?

Your local area, with travel expenses paid for actions further afield on a case by case basis.
Team communication is primarily online. We recommend spending 1 hour per week on the
role, with a higher time commitment when delivering actions. We ask Ambassadors to try to
be available for Prides, usually Saturdays in summer: our busiest and most fun time of year!

Support for you

  • You will receive a full induction into It Gets Better UK and to your role.

  • IGBUK staff will support you, workshop ideas, and help you deliver your actions. You will be
invited to a monthly catch up online and can organise a call whenever you choose.

  • Youโ€™ll join our online volunteer network where you can share ideas and support
